Licosa was founded in 1951 in Florence, Italy, where the corporate headquarters are still located today.
Originally created to import scientific publications from Germany into the italian academic and trade markets, Licosa builds year after year a high specialization in creating and delivering complete Library supply services.
During the 1980s Licosa becomes, by far, the leading Italian Library-supplier Subscription Agency and content provider on the Italian market.
In the 1980’s Licosa is officially appointed by the main international Economic Bodies and Organizations such as EU OECD WORLD BANK, as their Sole Italian Agent and Distributor for their international publications.
1980-2002: Licosa focuses on consolidating its leading position and role on the italian market.
2002: Licosa merges with Nuova Italia Bibliografica adding new know-how customer service features and many catalogues distributed into bookshops.
2002-2006: the electronic-era creates new needs and services for customers. Licosa not only responds actively to the challenge but pioneers the change.
2007: Licosa launches version 2.0 of its interactive platform www.licosa.com
